Bulfinch’s Dedham Corporate Center Earns EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Certification

NEEDHAM, MA - November 20, 2014 - The Bulfinch Companies, Inc., a private commercial real estate investment firm, is pleased to announce that its property Dedham Corporate Center in Dedham, MA has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) ENERGY STAR certification, the national symbol for protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency.

Dedham Corporate Center at 20 Carematrix Drive in Dedham is a 40,000 square-foot, first-class office building situated in an ideal location directly off Route 128 and in walking distance to the MBTA commuter rail.

“We are honored to receive the EPA’s Energy Star award in recognition of our energy-saving efforts at Dedham Corporate Center,” said James Cronin, Senior Vice President, Operations and Asset Management at Bulfinch. “We remain committed to protecting the environment through the use of sustainable and efficient energy practices, and are taking the necessary steps to reduce our portfolio’s energy use and our environmental footprint, while also lowering costs.”

The ENERGY STAR award certifies that Dedham Corporate Center uses less energy, is less expensive to operate and generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions than most similar buildings in the United States. To qualify for the Energy Star rating, a building or manufacturing plant must earn a score of 75 or higher on the EPA's 1-100 energy performance scale, indicating that the facility performs better than at least 75 percent of similar buildings nationwide.

"Improving the energy efficiency of our nation's buildings is critical to protecting our environment, " said Jean Lupinacci, Chief of the ENERGY STAR Commercial & Industrial Branch. "From the boiler room to the board room, organizations are leading the way by making their buildings more efficient and earning EPA's ENERGY STAR certification."
