Bulfinch Honors and Assists Veterans

BOSTON, MA – November 25, 2020

The Bulfinch Companies, Inc. (Bulfinch) today announces an expanded commitment to philanthropy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. On Veterans Day, November 11th, Bulfinch’s team came together for a virtual volunteering event with Building Impact, a nonprofit organization that designs corporate days of service and team volunteering in the Boston community.

Bulfinch is a founding member of Building Impact and maintains a strong commitment to philanthropy within our community. In honor of Veterans Day, the Bulfinch team assisted Building Impact with the creation of Winter Wellness Kits for military families. The kits include a hat and glove set for an adult and child, a pair of socks for an adult and child, a gift card, a special bag, games, cards (Uno, Go Fish), and a note filled with well wishes. These kits aim to provide military families with a variety of fun and entertaining activities to help lower stress and increase moments of joy. Bulfinch created more than 25 kits that will be donated to Fisher House, an organization that supports military families seeking in-patient medical services in Boston.

To make the kits, the Bulfinch team gathered virtually over a video conference call. Volunteers carefully picked the items that would go in each kit and then crafted a personalized note for the family. The process for making the kits was similar to online shopping. Building Impact assembles each kit using the necessary PPE and adhering to safety protocols.

“As the pandemic continues and we enter the season of giving, it’s important to remember that members of our community continue to need assistance,” said Eric Schlager, CEO at Bulfinch. “Bulfinch seeks to not only build communities, but to help them thrive, and we look forward to maintaining our longstanding relationship with Building Impact to provide for those in our community who require support.”

In October, Bulfinch hosted a virtual volunteering event for tenants hosted by Building Impact. Bulfinch tenants created over 100 kits, including disposable masks, which were given to local philanthropies, including Housing Families, who distributed to approximately 50 families.

Bulfinch is also sponsoring Building Impact’s Virtual Holiday Toy Drive, which will enable tenants to safely and remotely donate gift cards to children and families. Four local organizations will receive the donations: Waltham Boys & Girls ClubBoys and Girls Club of Boston, Orchard Gardens ClubCambridge Family and Children’s Services; and House of Hope. Bulfinch team members and tenants are also encouraged to participate in Giving Tuesday on December 1, 2020 and create Holiday Gift Baskets for women and children survivors of domestic violence, to be donated to The Transition House.
