Bulfinch’s vision for a multi-building development in the heart of Kendall Square capitalized on East Cambridge’s extremely tight office market. The mission for the development was designed to meet the needs of a broad range of existing and new tenants including emerging, smaller companies.

Deliver

Bulfinch successfully delivered Cambridge Place, a three-building first class office and biotech park totaling 300,000 square feet, in the heart of Kendall Square.  The three-building complex was originally developed in 1998-1999. When completed, Cambridge Place served as headquarters for top tier tenants including Camp Dresser & McKee (now CDM Smith), ADD Inc. (now part of Stantec) and Variagenics and as East Coast headquarters for Motorola.

A unique element of Cambridge Place development was the extraordinary level of community involvement in the development process and a commitment by Bulfinch to provide more than $1 million for community outreach programs, including job training and educational programs, the creation of a computer training center and internet access facility for the community, and the donation of land for recreational facilities, open space, or affordable housing.
