Green Initiatives

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (www.usgbc.org), Bulfinch actively engages in green building, sustainability and efficient and effective use of energy and materials.

 

Our most recent development, Trapelo Corporate Center in Waltham, MA, has attained LEED Gold certification , and we are committed to constructing our buildings to attain LEED certification.

Additionally, Bulfinch is focused on following the seven steps toward greater energy efficiency and sustainability identified by BOMA Boston:

  • Work toward reducing energy consumption 30% by 2012;
  • Benchmark energy usage and water consumption annually through EPA’s EnergyStar program;
  • Educate managers, engineers and others involved in building operations to ensure equipment is installed properly;
  • Perform energy audits and implement low-risk and low-cost strategies to improve energy efficiency;
  • Improve building systems operation and maintenance to extend the life of equipment;
  • Be a leader in reducing the industry’s role in global warming; and
  • Position Bulfinch to lead the way for owners and tenants who want to operate in an environmentally friendly way.
