On October 8, 2014, over 250 decision makers and commercial real estate professionals gathered at the Westin Copley Place in Boston, Massachusetts to hear from top national speakers including Eric Rosengren, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. The Conference focused on how global trends are impacting the local Boston area commercial real estate markets.
Conference buzz centered around technology and its impact on the local economy, as well as how Boston is attracting foreign capital more than ever before. Bulfinch Chief Executive Officer, Eric Schlager introduced the keynote speaker, David Fialkow, Managing Director of Catalyst Partners, a venture capital firm focusing on Early Stage and XIR/Growth investments. Mr. Fialkow spoke on the impact technology companies have on real estate. ”Boston is in a unique position as one of the only cities in the world with tremendous technology clusters,” said Fialkow, “Some of the these major companies in this cluster didn’t exist several years ago, so the one thing that is constant is not knowing what lies ahead but there is pattern recognition” said Fialkow who also spoke about how the big ideas technology companies are bringing to life drives real estate. He cited such recent Boston IPO’s including TripAdvisor, Wayfair, and Hubspot.
Fialkow was followed by a CEO Corner panel and an Industry Insight and Outlook panel that shared insight on the National and Massachusetts economy.
